Care Guide for Washable Paper

Use these care notes as the practical reference for keeping FORSTINA pieces clean, functional, and looking their best over time.

Is the paper waterproof?

Our washable paper is water resistant. A simple rain shower is not enough to get the bags wet, and the material is designed to be soaked and washed for cleaning.

Is the paper durable?

Yes. The material is very strong, with fibers bound together during treatment so it behaves more like a fabric than ordinary paper.

Will the paper soften with wear?

Yes. Like leather, the material softens and shapes with use, and its character becomes more visible over time.

How do I wash it?

Products without leather can be hand washed in warm water with a mild soap or detergent, then reshaped before drying. Products with leather should be hand washed while avoiding the leather sections.

How do I clean it?

Spot cleaning is very effective. For light marks, start with a clean pencil eraser. For stronger marks, use spot cleaning, soaking, or dry cleaning depending on the product and stain.

Will metallic finishes peel?

No. Metallic surfaces are meant to distress slightly with wear, but they should not peel off.

How to Use the Paper Bags

Originally designed as a bread-bag inspired storage solution, FORSTINA paper bags work well on tables, desks, pantry shelves, bathrooms, entry areas, laundry zones, and decorative corners. They are suitable for herbs, plants, fruit, vegetables, jewelry, makeup, craft materials, toys, laundry, recycling, and general storage.

If using a bag as a planter cover, place a separate pot, liner, or vase inside. The bags are washable but not designed to directly hold standing water.
